This updated monograph is intended as a guideline for the development of an ethics committee within a hospice and palliative care organization. It addresses the ultimate goals of such a committee, how to achieve some of those goals, and what pitfalls may occur, providing guidelines for committee membership, as well as appropriate goals, functions and consultation methodologies. It may also be used as a framework for establishing an ethics committee when this resource may otherwise be unavailable, or when a particular organization may decide to develop their own ethics committee for other reasons.
